I first started working there part-time as a CSR at a training store and was suppose to be assigned to work in a brand new store as soon as it opened.

 

Everything was going good.  It was a second job for me and I was managing another retail computer store during the day and was just working at Blockbuster for some extra cash.

 

Well the store I was suppose to open was taking forever it was a month behind schedule so they had me floating from store to store, and working at a different store almost every night in two different districts.  I worked in over 20 stores.

 

Well my store finally opened, and one of the Asst. Managers, Kassie transferred to a store out of state, so the Store Manager, Lisa transferred her roommate from another store to ours and got her a promotion as our SAM (Senior Asst Manager) and her name was Tanya.

 

Well then another Asst. Manager, Jamie who I had actually gotten to become pretty good friends with since we floated from store to store together for a while decided she wanted to go to part-time because she had another job offer, so it was time to start looking for more Asst Managers.

 

Then to top it off the last Asst. Manager, Justin just quit showing up to work one day and we never seen him again but got his keys to the store in the mail.

 

At this point my store manager, Lisa was pretty stressed out.  We had subs from other stores there all the time cause we had no managers.  She asked me if I would take a promotion and we came to an agreement that I would be a part-time Asst. Manager but she had no time to send me to the training store for the two weeks I was suppose to go so I only went for 3 days.

 

I was then left in charge of the store all alone with a brand new CSR my first night back on a Friday night.  Everything went okay though.

 

Well a few weeks went by and stuff started to get a little better, then our Store Manager went on vacation giving all of us one day's notice and the three of us AM's all had other obligations and jobs to worry about since we were all part-time, so we were not able to keep the store open.  They had subs coming in and out of the store all week.  It was hell.

 

Our store manager came back, and bitched us all out saying we did a crappy job and that we sucked.

Tanya quit and her and Lisa were no longer roommates.  Lisa didn't bother to hire more AM's and Jamie and I were both part-time.  Instead Lisa just gave a CSR keys to the store and said he will be promoted soon enough.

 

Well at this point Lisa had me hire 3 CSR's.  I did that and the night from hell started a week later.  It was a Friday night we were really busy.  The line was long and I had been there all morning, and Lisa was suppose to show up at 5PM to relieve me so I can go home and she never showed up.

 

My new CSR never showed up for work, and the only other CSR there walked out when a customer cussed him out.  So now I have a long line and I am the only one in the store on a Friday night.

Well the customer's in line started to get impatient.  I had one of them chuck a movie at me saying the service sucks. 

 

I had another one spit on me when I wouldn't take off their late fees that I knew were valid, and to top it off I had two women get in a fight in line to the point where I had to call the cops, all while some other guy was stealing all the sell-thru like it was a Table labeled Free.

 

It pretty much sucked.  Then Jamie came in to give me her keys and said she was quitting because Lisa and her just got in a fight on the phone cause Lisa told her she had to go into work for her cause she was to busy to go in.  By now it is 10'oclock at night and I was suppose to be off at 5. 

 

I flipped the lights and kicked all the customers out of the store.  I threw all the uncounted tills in the safe.  Locked the safe.  Shut off the lights, clocked out wrote a letter of resignation and signed it by me and Jamie I then faxed it to every store in the district and my DM and left a big copy for Lisa.

I set the alarm, locked the door and Jamie and I put our keys in the drop box which was already to full to put more movies in.

 

Lisa later went to the store that night and called me and Jamie to say we were Fired....hahaha

She was now the only manager in a store with only one CSR left from when the store opened and three brand new CSR's and no Asst Managers.  I found out she worked open to close for five days straight before she quit.  Since then I go in the store every now and then and there has been over 4 different store managers in the past year and half and I never recognize the same employees.

 

They are just morons.

Oh and Lisa also at one point called the DM and said that Jamie and I were dating before I was a AM and created this whole investigation.  Well we never were dating, we were just friends. Since then I have been offered a Store Manager position from my old DM if I went back to the company, and Tanya is now managing a store on the other side of town, and Jamie has went back to college on the other side of the country.  We are still in contact and good friends.

I went on to being promoted to a Store Manager at the other store I was at the day after I quit Blockbuster but that store went out of business after five years last April and I am now working as a Corporate Financial Advisor for AT&T Wireless and love it.

And we all lived happily ever after.

Anyways that is my Blockbuster story.

Oh and to top it off Blockbuster and VIACOM has threatened me with legal action recently for my website because I bought blockbustervideo.org out from under them
